At American University, all admitted students are considered for scholarships for which they are eligible. The American University online program scholarships are awarded to students who have excellent academic credentials and exhibit exceptional leadership skills.
Both international and domestic students may apply for American University online program scholarships and receive merit awards and scholarships from AU and other organizations to help finance their studies. Online Merit Scholarship
The American University is pleased to offer the following scholarships to honor their students who continue on to online graduate studies.
Online Master of Arts in Economics, Applied Economics Specialization
- Scholarship Amount: $10,000
- Availability: Ongoing
- Considerations:
- American University will make the Online Merit Scholarship decision and will notify students at the time they are admitted or shortly thereafter.
- Scholarships will be applied equally to the 1st and 5th courses.
American University Scholarships 2022 for Online Masters of Arts in Strategic Communication
- Availability: Limited based on funds
- Student Eligibility:
- Admitted students will be eligible for scholarship consideration based on a holistic review of the application file, including academic credentials, professional experience, and exceptional leadership skills.
- Students must also remain in good academic standing throughout the program.
- Considerations:
- American University will make the Online Merit Scholarship decision and will notify students at the time they are admitted or shortly thereafter.
- The scholarship will be applied equally to the final two courses.

American University Online Masters of Public Administration and Policy
- Scholarship Amount: $10,000
- Availability: Ongoing
- Student Eligibility:
- Students must have a cumulative 3.2 GPA (on 4.0 scale) or above in their undergraduate program.
- Students must remain in good academic standing.
- Considerations:
- American University will make the Online Merit Scholarship decision and will notify students at the time they are admitted or shortly thereafter.
- The American University merit scholarship will be applied equally to the third and fourth semesters (5th through 8th courses).
Online Masters of Science in Health Promotion Management
- Scholarship Amount: $10,000

- Student Eligibility:
- Students must have a cumulative 3.4 GPA (on 4.0 scale) or above in their undergraduate program.
- Students must remain in good academic standing.

Online Masters of Science in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security
