When Will U.S. Army ROTC scholarships 2022 be Announced
ROTC Scholarship Application opens for the award year 2022 (this year’s high school seniors): 12 June 2021
- Application deadline for 1st National Selection Board: 19-23 October 2021
- Application deadline for 2nd National Selection Board: 25-29 January 2022
- Deadline to begin a NEW application for ROTC Scholarship: 04 February 2022
- Application deadline for 3rd National Selection Board: 15-19 March 2022
Important Note: If you enlist or are currently enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, National Guard, or other branches of military service, you are considered ineligible to receive a General Army ROTC Scholarship.
Criteria for Army ROTC Scholarships Application
For ALL Army ROTC Scholarships, Cadet Command utilizes the following three criteria areas to determine eligibility and awards. This is a competitive process, just because you are qualified does not mean you will automatically receive a scholarship.
- Scholar criteria are determined from your high school grades and SAT or ACT scores. The higher your grades and scores, the better your chances.
- Athlete criteria are determined by your participation in sports, your performance on the Physical Fitness Assessment, and whether or not you meet the Army’s height and weight standards. The better your physical and athletic ability, the better your chances.
- Leader criteria are determined by your participation in leadership positions in extra-curricular activities both in and out of high school during your high school years. Particular emphasis is placed on leadership positions you may have held on sports teams, volunteer activities, part-time work, clubs, scouting, church, etc.
General Army ROTC Scholarship 2022 Value
Rising high school seniors may apply for the scholarship as early as mid-June between junior and senior year. A National Board awards 4-year and 3-year advance-designee scholarships worth up to $57,000.
The Army ROTC scholarship award can pay either tuition and fees or room and meals; a $420/month stipend, and $1,200 per year for books. They are awarded based on high academic achievement, excellence in athletics, and demonstrated leadership skills.

High School Scholarship Program
There are a few different programs under the HS scholarship program:
- 4-year scholarship
- 3-year AD scholarship
- Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
- Nursing scholarship

What Matters to the Army ROTC Scholarship Selection Board?
Some areas of your army ROTC scholarship application are more important than others. Army ROTC ranks scholarship applicants out of 1400 points.

- College Board Scores – 18%
- Civilian Background Experience Form – 18%
- Scholar, Athletics, and Leadership – 14%
- Interview – 14%

Army ROTC Scholarship Application Instructions
Below are the step-by-step Army ROTC scholarships application Instructions
- Determine your eligibility:
- You must be a US citizen
- Age 17 or older before the end of your first semester at UNG.
- You must be medically, physically and psychologically qualified to become an Army lieutenant
- Apply for admission as a Cadet: NOTE: You cannot apply for admission or the scholarship until you complete your junior year of high school.
- Apply for the scholarship: Your application will be submitted to Cadet Command, not UNG. Make sure you provide your high school transcript, SAT or ACT scores, and fitness test scores as instructed.
- Home school students must also provide transcripts.
- Do not rely on the College Board or ACT Board to send your scores directly to Cadet Command.
- Take a screenshot of your test scores and e-mail them to the Cadet Command e-mail address listed on your scholarship application
- Check your status online: When you apply for the ROTC scholarship, you will create a scholarship account with Army Cadet Command at Ft Knox, Kentucky. You should check your Army ROTC online scholarship account frequently for updates and information.
- Schedule a scholarship interview: Schedule an Army ROTC scholarship interview. You are required to do an interview with one school. Contact the nearest college or university that has an Army ROTC program to schedule it.
- Physical Fitness Assessment: You must complete the Physical Fitness Assessment.
- Ask any high school administrator to administer the test and fill out the scorecard.
- We recommend a coach or JROTC instructor.
- There are no passing or failing scores. Just do the best you can.
- For males, your goals should be 50 push-up, 50 curl-ups, and a 6:30 mile.
- Board Process: After completing steps 3-6, the status of your ROTC application should change to “Board Ready“. Periodically check your e-mail, mail, and your GO-ARMY scholarship account to ensure you are receiving communications from Cadet Command.
