Destination Australia Scholarship for International Students 2023

The Destination Australia scholarship is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education. It aligns with the National Strategy for International Education 2025. We are going to walk you through the simple steps you need to apply for the scholarship.

The Destination Australia Scholarship program is modeled for meritorious students who wish to receive financial aid to live and study in regional Australia. The scholarships, available to both domestic and international students, are funded by Australia’s Department of Education.

This scholarship from Destination Australia – an Australian Government initiative – is designed to encourage students to study in regional Australia. The scholarship’s objective is to:

  • Attract and support study in regional Australia
  • Grow and develop regional Australian tertiary education providers
  • Offer students a high-quality learning experience.

Destination Australia Scholarship 2023 Brief Description

  • Study level: Undergraduate, and Postgraduate coursework
  • Study area: Agriculture and animal sciences, Science and mathematics
  • Scholarship focus: Academic excellence, Experience, and employability, Financial hardship, Rural or remote
  • Scholarship value: Up to AUD $15,000 per year of study
  • Scholarship duration: For the program’s duration (maximum 4 years)
  • Number Awarded: May vary

Destination Australia Scholarship for International Students 2023 Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Destination Australia Scholarship at UQ, an applicant must:

  1. Satisfactorily complete the application process as outlined below (see ‘How to Apply’), and
  2. Be able to be classified as an international student in Australia, and
  3. Maintain a student visa for the duration of the scholarship in order to ensure protection under the
    Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, and
  4. Commence full-time enrolment as a new student in an eligible degree program (see Appendix) at
    the UQ Gatton campus in 2022 (i.e. be new to UQ and/or be new to the eligible program of study),
    and
  5. By the scholarship closing date, submit all requested documentation to meet the conditions associated
    with an offer from UQ for an eligible program.

And you’re starting any of the below programs in 2022:

  • Bachelor of Agricultural Science
  • Bachelor of Equine Science
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
  • Bachelor of Wildlife Science
  • Master of Agribusiness
  • Master of Agribusiness
  • Master of Agricultural Science
  • Master of Agricultural Science
  • Master of Animal Science
  • Master of Animal Science

Dual degrees with the Bachelor of Agribusiness and Master of Agricultural Science (Plant Protection Major) are not eligible because they are not delivered full-time at UQ Gatton.
