Lancaster University seeks to attract the most talented students from around the world. To enrich our diverse community further, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is offering a new scholarship for high achieving students from African countries.

The Lancaster University Global Scholarships for African Students grant is designed for those who wish to commence a master’s degree programme at the university. The Number of Awards available is limited and scholarships of £3,000 will be offered to high achieving African students.

Lancaster University offer a range of scholarships to help you fund your postgraduate studies. If you are awarded a scholarship, you may also be asked to act as a student ambassador or representative for the programme.

2021/2022 Lancaster University Global Scholarships for African Students in UK Eligibility

To be eligible for an Lancaster University Global Scholarship award, you will need to meet the criteria below:

  1. You must be a permanent resident and national of Africa, as defined by the African Union.
  2. You must have achieved or be on target to achieve the equivalent to a UK 1stClass undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree. See examples of grade equivalents below.
  3. You must have applied for a full-time Master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for 2021 entry (2021-2022 academic year): https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/arts-and-social-sciences/study/postgraduate/masters/courses/
  4. You must be self-funding your studies or, if you are in receipt of other funding,that funding must not cover more than 50% of the Lancaster University tuition fee. If,following an offer from Lancaster University,you are awarded other funding that exceeds 50% then you must inform Lancaster University. Your scholarship will then be made available to another candidate.
  5. If you are offered a scholarship, you will be required to pay a £250 acceptance deposit to secure the scholarship award. You will need to pay the acceptance deposit within 4 weeks of the date we notify you that you have been successful in obtaining a scholarship.

How to Apply for Lancaster University Global Scholarships for African Students 2021

Applying for a Lancaster University Global Scholarship for Masters programme is a simple process and we accept applicants throughout the year.

  • How to Apply: For an application, applicants need to take admission to the university. After taking admission, they will automatically consider you for a scholarship as part of our standard Master’s application process.
  • Supporting Documents: To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the previous transcripts at the university.
  • Language Requirement: All candidates must be proficient in English so that they can actively participate in the academic program.

If you are lucky enough to win the Lancaster University Global Scholarships for African Students in UK 2021, the University will provide you with £3,000 tuition for the academic year 2021/2022.
