The Felix Scholarships Application for Students from Developing Countries

The Felix Scholarship was founded to offer gifted underprivileged students from India and certain other developing countries the opportunity of furthering their postgraduate education by attending a university in the UK.

The scholarship covers tuition fees at the international rate and provides a stipend (maintenance grant) to cover living expenses (around £14,570). They also provide generous allowances for clothes, books, and a return flight home. Please be aware that you will be asked to demonstrate financial need and spouses’ costs will not be met.

The Felix Scholarship awards are available (depending on eligibility) for up to three years.

Felix scholarship applicants can apply for any masters/research-level program at the participating universities, except for medicine. Presently, the Felix Scholarship scheme offers 20 scholarships at three universities in the United Kingdom:

As you can see from the table above, the Felix scholarships are offered at three universities – the University of Oxford, the University of Reading, and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), part of the University of London. The Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit and financial need.

Who is Eligible to Apply for Felix scholarships

To be eligible for all the Felix Scholarships offered, you must be applying to start a full-time postgraduate degree. The Scholarships are open to:

  • You must have at least a first-class bachelor’s degree from a university or comparable institution. Those with an upper second-class degree at a bachelor’s level may be considered if they hold a first-class degree at master’s level.
  • You must not hold a degree from a university outside of your home country.

Candidates for the Felix Scholarships at Oxford should note there is no separate application process: in order to be considered, you must submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline for your course.
