The University of Copenhagen PhD Fellowships in Biointerfaces is on offer in Denmark. The program is available to foreign and domestic students for the school session 2024-2025.
They are offering two three-year University of Copenhagen PhD Fellowships in Biointerfaces. The University of Copenhagen PhD Fellowships in Biointerfaces are funded by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. The fellowship programs are available from 1 October 2024 or as soon as possible from then on.
The funding program helps deserving candidates who wish to start a Ph.D. degree at the university. There are two positions on distinct aspects of the interface between particles and the gut.
Project Descriptions
The two positions are on various parts of the interface between particles and the gut.
The first position is concentrated on the structural features of the interface between particles and gastrointestinal fluids, answering questions about how the structure of the underlying particle affects the formation of the interface. The project will comprise training in and use of advanced physical characterization methods with a concentration on scattering techniques at major research facilities (synchrotron X-ray and neutron scattering facilities).

The second position is concentrated on the compositional features of the interface – what are the molecular contributors to the material at the interface and how this transforms with various underlying particle structures and compositions. The student will get training in advanced microscopy and analytical techniques (proteomics and lipidomics).

Eligibility for University of Copenhagen PhD Fellowships

Eligibility Criteria: To be qualified, the candidates have to meet all the following/given criteria:
- Qualifications relating to a master’s degree in physical chemistry, chemical engineering (for the first position), physics, proteomics, analytical chemistry, lipidomics, glycomics, or related areas (second position) before the starting date
- Fluency in English and excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- First position: Familiarity with light, X-ray, and/or neutron scattering studies
- Experience in cryo-electron microscopy
- Writing of proposals for research at major facilities
- Second position:
- Experience in spectroscopic techniques and/or microscopy e.g. Raman microscopy
- Experience in advanced chromatography e.g.LC-MS/MS
