The University of Victoria Entrance scholarships for international undergraduate students is always awarded to academically outstanding international undergraduate students. The exact number of scholarships varies each year, depending on available funding.
The University of Victoria Entrance scholarship and awards are purely for undergraduate students who are new to UVic. That means that they are eligible for a number of awards made available through contributions from donors as well as from the University’s operating budget. These are referred to as entrance scholarships.

Twenty scholarships of $10,000 each are awarded to academically outstanding international students entering the first year of an undergraduate program at the University of Victoria. That is each year UVic awards more than 3.5 million dollars in entrance scholarships. Scholarships are non-repayable and are awarded mainly on the basis of a student’s academic excellence.
University of Victoria Entrance Scholarships for International Students Eligibility
Your entrance scholarship eligibility is majorly based on your citizenship and where you last studied.
- International students must be admitted to the University of Victoria before being considered for an entrance scholarship.
- Eligible candidates are automatically referred to Student Awards & Financial Aid by Undergraduate Admissions.
- Except where the terms and conditions of an undergraduate scholarship or award specifically state otherwise, recipients must normally register and maintain enrolment as a full-time student in a minimum of 12 units in their first Winter Session to receive the scholarship or award.
- International students must send in an interim transcript (if a current secondary school student) or a final transcript (if a student has graduated within two years of application and has not attended another post-secondary institution) by March 15 to Undergraduate Admissions to be assessed for an International Scholarship.
- Eligible candidates are automatically referred to Student Awards & Financial Aid by Undergraduate Admissions.

How to Apply for Entrance Scholarship at the University of Victoria 2023
UVic offers two main types of centrally-administered entrance scholarships for students entering a full-time undergraduate degree program:
- Entrance scholarships based on admission average and
- Entrance scholarships based on admission average and other criteria (application required).

Students must have an offer of admission in order to receive a University of Victoria scholarship offer and must register and maintain enrolment as a full-time student in either the Summer Session (6.0 academic units) or the Winter Session (September to April, 12 academic units) to receive their scholarship UVic scholarship funds.
Entrance scholarships based on admission average – No application required
These category of scholarship are for:
- Current Grade 12 students completing a Canadian secondary diploma
- Canadian secondary school graduates
- Canadian citizens studying outside of Canada (secondary school students)
- International secondary students studying outside of Canada (current and graduate)
- Transfer students entering directly from a Canadian college or university
Entrance scholarships based on admission average and other criteria – Application required
- To be considered for a university of Victoria entrance/transfer scholarship based on admission average and other criteria students must complete the online university of Victoria scholarship application between February 15 – April 30.
- Students entering the January term can apply via the entrance or transfer application, as they will not be eligible for the course online application.
How to Accept Your University of Victoria Entrance Scholarship
Successful recipients will be notified in writing by the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office.
To accept your scholarship offer:
- Have a NetLink ID
- Go to www.uvic.ca and sign in to your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
- Select ‘Student Services‘ on the top menu
- Select “Finances” and “Awards and financial aid“
- Select “View the status of your awards“
- Enter the Year and Period of study
- Select “Accept” on the UVic scholarship(s) you have been offered
